Giving

It is because of your support, the Society of St Vincent de Paul St Jude Conference has provided our neighbors with much needed basics like keeping food on the table, arranging utility assistance, and shelter.  Our conference is working to offer housing assistance and as you can imagine, having a roof over your head at night makes life a bit easier.

Giving Options

Give a Recurring Gift

As a non-profit, we rely on external support to fulfill our mission.  By becoming a recurring donor, you make it possible to plan, budget and make decisions on how we can support our neighbors.  You can strengthen your impact by scheduling a monthly or annual donation to support the mission of the Society of St Vincent de Paul St Jude Conference.

Give a One-Time Gift

We are so grateful for all donations big and small.  Every donation works to help a neighbor with a need to provide stability for themselves and their families during this time of crisis.  We provide them with help and hope, promoting the dignity of the person and alleviating suffering and distress.

Choose a Specific Fund or Cause

You can choose how your donation is spent,  whether it be directed towards general needs, assisting with housing, or directing money to preserving families in their home, we let you determine where you prefer to your dollars to be spent.

Your Legacy, Your Way!

Appreciated Securities

By giving stock shares and/or mutual funds instead of cash, you may benefit from tax savings allowing you to make a larger charitable gift at the same cost.  When donating securities, please be sure to consult your financial broker.

Life Insurance

The primary purpose of life insurance is to provide a safety net for those who depend on you financially.  This policy can also allow you to leave a legacy, not just for your family, but also for organizations/causes that are meaningful to you.  You can name a non-profit organization the beneficiary of a life insurance policy, along with your loved ones.    The percentage of the payout to the charity is up to you.  Please work with your agent to create the plan for your beneficiaries.

Retirement Plans

You can gift the remainder of your pension plan or retirement account.  This allows you to maintain control of your funds during your lifetime and make a charitable gift after providing for yourself and your loved one.

Bequest

Gifts can be made as part of your estate plan and directed in your will or living trust.  You can provide a designated dollar amount, a specific percentage of your estate, or specific tangible items, like real estate, stocks, valuables, etc.

Sample bequest language to add to your will or trust:

I give and bequeath (the sum of $), (the % of my estate), or (specific valueables, i.e. real property, jewelry, stocks) to Society of St Vincent de Paul St Jude Cathedral Conference, Inc.,

About Your Donations, Where & How They are used

We are a person to person organization and we work directly with the neighbors requesting assistance.  We meet in their homes and allow them to keep their dignity by not having to go some place and share their story in a public setting.  We provide for their immediate needs and share resources to find long term assistance.  This is a hand up and not a hand out.

Keeping families in their homes

Families are struggling with the rental costs in this area and often times are short with their monthly rent.  We assist these families and provided over $10,000 in rental assistance during 2023.  With your support we can do more!

utilities

As everyone knows, the cost of utilities has gone up significantly and people on fixed incomes and low income families cannot afford the bills.  Many choose to do budget billing and then are overwhelmed when the bill comes to pay the difference and they are faced with disconnect notices.  We paid over $25,000 in utility payments in 2023 and see the need growing.

Food

Food insecurity is a serious problem with over 12% of the households in the US facing this problem.  The numbers here in Pinellas County indicate the need is great with one in six children in our county facing food insecurity.  With your generous donations, we help to provide families with the ability to put food on their tables.

other assistance

According to the Society of St Vincent de Paul, no act of charity is foreign to our organization.  We provide other types of assistance to provide essential services to our neighbors.
